When travelling to Tobago the Buccoo Reef will be one of
those places that you just have to experience yourself. A French oceanographer
and explorer Jacques Cousteau visited Tobago's Buccoo Reef and rated it as the
third most spectacular reef in the world. See it for yourself and you will
understand. Crystal clear water, that is just full of colour and life. Every
day there are tours that will take you out to the reef on a glass bottom boat,
so if you don’t feel like getting into the water you will not miss a thing, but
we strongly suggest that you dive in and get the full experience for yourself.
There are so many colourful fish in and around the corals. Who knows you might
even find Nemo.
With this being such an important island treasure and
tourist destination do you think the authorities and country as a whole do
enough to protect and conserve the reef?
Now this is 1 place that I can proudly say that I have visited. It really was an amazing experience and I loved it so much I went back a second time and now after seeing these pictures I am thinking that I need to see it two more times :p Seeing all of those coloured fish swim around you is so cool.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Jacques Cousteau, to me this is the most amazing reef in the world. I visit it at least four times a year. I have invested in underwater photography equipment so I can take home the beauty of the reef and show it off to friend and family without doing any damage to the reef as some people do when they brake off parts of the reef and take it as a souvenir not knowing or not caring if they hurt it.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a good idea that you have, take a picture instead of taking the reef. Pictures like the one above will encourage a person to go and visit the reef, but showing someone a peace of the reef that you brake off will not make anyone want to go any faster, because all of the beauty that came along with it is gone.
ReplyDeleteYes I wish that more people would understand that this is a very fragile eco system and if the reef dies then so to dose the fish that use it for food and shelter.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the second commenter. I think Jacques Cousteau was too impressed with Trinidad and Tobago that he couldn't give everything #1.
ReplyDeleteThe Authors question, "do you think the authorities and country as a whole do enough to protect and conserve the reef?"
I think we (locals) need to ask ourselves that. Complaining who is not doing their job makes no sense. It being's with us, "The People", appreciation and recognize the inherent natural beauty of our twin island republic.
